FYS/DIS

  • “My professor was by far my favorite throughout this semester. She was always available when I needed her and was very willing to help me. She made the class interesting and fun and made me want to learn. She pushed me intellectually through lecture and class discussions which helped me better understand the material. She was very fair with all aspects and I thoroughly enjoyed her as a human being and a teacher.”

  • “Dr. Hupfer you are the best! By far my favorite class!! You being my professor and taking this class made me decide that I want to minor in philosophy!”

  • “This course doesn't just teach me things, it forces me to think deeply about things i never have before.”

  • “Dr. Hupfer is a professor who is concerned and wants to see students succeed and does not want them to miss out on an opportunity and is willing to work with the student if they are willing to help themselves.”

  • “I believe that overall I was able to flourish in this class. I learned how to speak up and be heard in class, while also learning about Philosophy. I had never had a philosophy course prior to this one, but since taking this class I am considering having a minor in Philosophy.”

  • “I believe that this course was very good in the way that it taught new ways to think, rather than just overloading the course with general information. Dr. hupfer engages the class and allows for students to have their own "breakthrough" moments. This is rare for school, as most classes just focus on learning information, rather than more fundamental changes, such as how to think.”

  • “Hands down one of the best teachers I've here so far. Made the information interesting and always made the class exciting. The workload was fair and she always provided great feedback on assignments.”

Logic and Critical Thinking

  • “Dr. Hupfer is perhaps the best professor I've had at High Point. I found her incredibly down to earth, extremely intelligent, and capable of controlling a classroom with her energy and class structure. She was available outside of class to advise me--not one of her advisees--and show me a great deal of respect, care, and reassurance. I'm excited to take classes and continue working with her in the future.”

  • “This professor is one of my favorites now! She made coming to class fun for me and was very enthusiastic in her teaching. She spent an appropriate amount of time on each section and really made sure every student understood.”

  • “This professor has an organized and well structured teaching style that allows the classroom to be efficient. She also has an excellent method of clarification that keeps challenging material from being confusing.”

  • “I really liked how Dr. Hupfer engaged the class. She is very energetic and is always excited to be in class. From day one she had us all participating and I feel like that made everyone more comfortable. We always reviewed before exams which was very helpful, and we went over commonly missed questions after the exams. Exams were also graded very quickly, which I found to be very impressive!”

  • “Professor Hupfer was always enthusiastic about us learning and gaining new skills, which is critical if you are going to teach something as complex, and potentially dry, as structuring logic and arguments. She made it relatable and applicable, which in turn made it interesting.”

  • “I LOVE Dr. HUPFER. I would love to take more of her classes. She is extremely organized, compassionate, and inspiring.”

  • “Dr. Hupfer is an amazing professor. This is my second course with her and she truly cares about her students. She makes sure you understand exactly what is going on and if you don't she will continue to explain the concept in different ways until you do. She was always very timely to hand back assignments and exams and responded to emails extremely fast as well.”

Social Ethics (inc. summer online)

  • “Most engaging professor I have ever had. There was never a question asked in class that she could not fully answer and help the class understand. Her personality kept the class engaged and made everyone comfortable to speak their mind and ask any question they may have. This class made my brain hurt in the best way possible because the concepts and theories really made you think.”

  • “She was very good at explaining ideas so that everyone understand it. Also very relatable example are used which helps students understand the content. Every day she showed up excited to teach and knew exactly what she was talking about. There was no reading off PowerPoint and listening to a boring lecture. Everything was in her head and then written onto the whiteboard in an effective and lively manner that usually sparks class discussions”

  • “Professor Hupfer is incredible!! She is the sweetest and funniest human ever and I really wished she was teaching more than one class next semester. I appreciated how engaged she was and how she didn't use powerpoint presentations. The whole class was discussion based which allowed you to get to know other people in the class. So happy this was not a strictly lecture based class because the content can get pretty heavy and complicated. Over all I would 1000% take another class of hers.”

  • “I loved this professor. She is super engaging and makes it relatable to students. I enjoy coming to class and love the teaching strategies that she uses. She makes it very clear what we are learning about and explains information very well.”

  • “I think Professor Hupfer is one of my favorite professors. She is engaging, she has great presentations that are clear and concise. I feel comfortable asking her questions and asking for help. She truly understands students and how they learn.”

Business Ethics

  • “Dr. Hupfer I sincerely hope that you get to read this survey because I believe you epitomize what it means to be a true professor. I seldom get to meet an instructor with the same level of enthusiasm for their area of study as you have. This enthusiasm coupled with an obvious gift for teaching has made you perhaps one of the most influential professors I have had and will ever have. I think that in every single metric possible you are off the charts as a professor. The ability to engage the class in discussions at genuinely keep the class fun and interesting every day was something that I looked forward to every morning when I stepped into the class.”

  • “This course, specifically taught by Dr. Hupfer, was perhaps one of the most influential and enlightening courses that I have taken at HPU. Every single aspect of this class was extremely well prepared before hand and through Dr. Hupfer's instruction even the more difficult material in the class was easily broken down into digestible pieces of information for the students. I genuinely can not think of one day for this class when the content was not interesting nor can I think of a time when Dr. Hupfer displayed anything less than absolute excellence as a professor. Every activity, reading, or case study we did could simply not be improved any further because they were all perfectly set up in the course in every way possible from the relevancy of the material to the timing and how each bit of material flowed from one bit of information to the next”

  • “Professor Hupfer was fantastic. She truly insprired me to think more critically about ethical issues to a point I didn’t know I was capable. Her style of teaching for the course perfectly and she constantly kept the classroom a positive learning environment with discussion and note-taking. This isn’t easy stuff to learn, especially if you’re being first introduced to philosophy ideas, however Dr. Hupfer ensured that every student would succeed as long as they were willing to put the time and effort in. One of the best instructors I’ve had in a while. I would be interested in taking another philosophy class solely to learn from Dr. Hupfer!

  • “Dr. Hupfer is amazing. From exceptional and engaging teaching methods, to her fair and yet rigorous testing and assignments, she has been a delightful professor. She has managed to unite students from every background, be they taking the course for a major or general education requirement, under the banner of learning about the way we think about business. Other students taking this course with different professors appear to be far less enthused and inspired by business ethics, leading me to believe that Dr. Hupfer herself is what adds a lot of the appeal of business ethics for students less interested in the coursework itself. “

  • “The instructor is extremely passionate about the topics she teaches which makes it more interesting as a student. She consistently builds the class around great class discussion and helps us discover answers by helping us get to the solution without completely giving it to us. She uses a great deal of different resources to discuss the different topics from videos, articles, clips from movies, and current events. At the end of the day, she is a very kind person who is very knowledgeable at her job and excellent at teaching what she knows. She is a prime example of the so many amazing teachers at High Point University”

Civic Responsibility and Social Innovation

  • “Dr. Hupfer is the perfect example of what professors should be. She did a fantastic job in every category. She was so engaging during classes. She did an amazing job at working through dense topics while also providing an environment for us to give our own opinion and even relate it back to our SL site. I normally am a very nervous person and I do not speak in class regularly, however in this class I talked maybe too much! She made all of us feel comfortable speaking our minds and really created a space where all students could thrive. Throughout the course she followed the syllabus and also graded very fairly. Even if we did very well on an assignment she still gave us feedback on what could improve on so that we could do even better the next time. I am SO happy that I took this course, not only did I learn so much - but I also found a new love for this topic as a whole! THANK YOU DR. HUPFER!!!”

  • “One of my favorite professors of all times. It is clear to see that the professor loves what she does. She is an amazing professor who truly cares about her students on an individual level. I wish I could be in her class forever.”

  • “The strengths of Dr.Hupher were her enthusiasm for the course. You could tell that she has a great passion for her topic and that in turn made it fun for us to learn. I also enjoyed her content/presentation ratio in class. While she would show videos to give us another understanding of the content, the videos were short and retention grabbing, ensuring that we stayed engaged with the content.”

  • “I love Dr. Hupfer so dearly; she inspired me to look at Philosophical concepts from so many different perspectives. She makes sure that students understand the material and really pushes us to make progress. Her classes are so enjoyable that they become a motivation for me to come to school everyday.”

  • “This class is different from any class that I have taken in the past. As a service learning class, I learned so much more about our community and my relationship with the society as an individual from experiences both in the classroom and outside the classroom.”

Morality of Globalization

  • “Dr. Hupfer was a wonderful professor. Her material was always interesting and relevant. She used great videos and readings for us to better understand the material. She gave wonderful examples. She was always available for extra help. Dr. Hupfer truly helped me the most out of all my professors, especially when home during the pandemic. Her transition into the online learning due to the pandemic was extraordinary. She was available to answer questions and read over the material for the week. I truly appreciate all that she has done for my learning.”

  • “Dr. Hupfer is awesome, and the class was too. I wouldn't change anything--I walked away from the class really happy and overflowing with new perspectives of the world around me.”

  • “Dr. Hupfer has been an incredible professor. She is engaging, thoughtful, relatable, and passionate about this course. Her energy is infectious and she does a fantastic job engaging the class. I have not missed a class because I look forward to attending this class every single week. I don't know how she does it but she has made this class absolutely unbeatable. This has been my favorite course I have taken in 4 years. I highly recommend her as a professor to anyone looking to take philosophy.”

  • “I have had several classes with Dr. Hupfer and LOVE HER! I enjoy her teaching style, clear syllabus, and quick grading especially and honestly built this semester's schedule around in this class.”

  • “You can always tell that Dr. Hupfer is excited to discuss the material she teaches. She routinely engages those who are both thrilled to be in class and those who are more apathetic. It is literally impossible to not be engaged and focused in on her class due to her ability to engage students and create exciting discussions.”

  • “Lots of opportunities for discussion and reflection. This class is not just memorizing info, we worked on actually understanding and learning something!!”

  • “This course has been absolutely fascinating!! I really felt like this strength fostered stimulating discussion about real world issues and the philosophical theories and concepts that apply to these issues. I felt like this course is exactly what I want out of a college course. It challenged me to expand my thinking, be open to new perspectives, and learn about the world around me.”
